DH #1
Jacqueline
Jacqueline had been travelling for several days and had just recently finally arrived in Miami. As preparations for the building of a new DH she had
tried to get people she knew were good to join, but so far she’d just gotten a bunch of ‘I’ll contact you – soon!’. Currently she was staying at a top
class hotel but she was hoping to move to an apartment as soon as possible. Wearing a nice new suite she walked down the busy street to reach their
office. Her thoughts were in chaos. For the first time in four years she was to be confronted with the man she had sort of hoped not to meet again in
a really long time. On her way she stopped and picked up some coffee for herself as well as a doughnut. Nowadays her blonde hair was a whole lot
shorter, her face sterner and more mature looking. Loosing a parent could do that to a person. At least it was because of old age and nothing horrible
– considering their line of work.
Now she had inherited his title – his name and good reputation… as a Demon Hunter. Her father had been the oldest in the business, his family – and
hers of course – went all the way back and people knew that. Failure was not an option. No matter what she had to go through.
Determination glistened in her blue eyes – right now she was ready to take on the entire universe did she have to. Since many years back she had
stopped her dreamwalking completely and once she had grown mature enough to handler most of her premonitions she avoided them too – though some still
came when she was sleeping. Hence how she knew she’d be working with him. There were only two people in the world, alive, that knew
that she even possessed the powers of clairvoyance. Jacqueline Halewood was a woman who preferred not knowing anything about the future – but let it
come as it came. To the outside world, the young woman probably looked like any young person with ambitions, ready to take on the business world. They
had no idea. People rushed past her, eager to get to their jobs. Some were demons others were humans. As she finally reached the right building, Jacq
went straight up to the receptionist and introduced herself. Of course the two women sensed that they were of the same kind, and in so, Jacq flashed
her badge, they exchanged a smile and once her information had been scanned in and verified she couldn’t do anything but wait for the damn elevator to
go all the way to the top before finally coming to an end. Once she finally arrived at their office floor she started to go over every corner
carefully, checking out some of the equipment and also that nothing had been forgotten. Much to her approval everything seemed to be in order. The
decorator had done a fine job, not an amazing one, but a fine one. Through her time with DH she had seen a lot worse then this. Knowing fully well
that she’d probably be stuck right here in this office for a long time she had demanded that something was done with it. Now Jacqueline headed over to
the coroners office, inspecting it carefully in every detail – all for her dear Eamon who’d need to be as comfortable as possible. But everything
seemed perfect there as well. After that, Jacq ventured into the laboratory to check everything for Alicia and Reed and there too everything was as it
should. All her careful planning had paid off on a big scale. They should be able to spring into business right away. Finally she could get to her own
office. Strangely she found only one door. Just in case she took an extra stroll around the floor but… there was only one door. Inhaling deeply her
mask didn’t fail her one bit as the door to the office swung open. It was a bright office, the Miami morning sun shining in through the massive
windows. Nearly all agents would be assembled right outside the office she was now standing in. All with their own computer and of course as much
privacy as they could get on an open floor – a plan she had asked specifically for. Of course they had interrogation rooms, private offices for people
to talk and also living room-like rooms for more unofficial meetings and possible stay over’s – which she also had anticipated would be quite
frequent.
Walking back into her office she sipped at her coffee at sat down at the desk she had chosen as her own. Slowly she reached into her briefcase and
grabbed the photoframe she so carefully had put there before she had left her hotel room that morning. As she retrieved it she took a good look at her
father’s smiling face. Looking over her desk she placed the black frame next to her computer screen. Without another thought she grabbed her cell and
dialled Alissa’s number. Waiting for Alissa to answer, Jacq took a bite of her doughnut.
“Hello, Alissa, it’s me Jacq, how are you?”

Alissa
After moving to Miami from New York a few days earlier, Alissa Barstow had to a bit of readjustment because of the increased heat in Florida. At least
it gave her a perfect excuse to do some shopping, acquiring a whole new wardrobe on the very first day in Miami. Since then she'd been busy settling
into her new oceanview apartment, checking up on friends back in New York and preparing for the first day of work at DH headquarters.
All in all, Alissa had found ways of staying busy and not allowing herself to dwell on the past. It had already been two years since the death of her
parents and when remembering the tragic car accident, tears weren't the only thing rising to the surface. Ever since childhood Alissa had always
focused on the positive things in her life but after losing her parents the positive attitude had taken a direct hit. The night of the accident,
Alissa had been enjoying a dinner and a movie together with her current boyfriend well aware that her father hadn't called like he promised. When
getting the phone call from the police hours later, Alissa's immediate reaction caused the bedroom window to explode. Ever since then she'd been
extra careful about keeping her powers under control except when she had demons to fight.
On the morning of her first work day at DH headquarters, Alissa got up a couple of hours earlier than necessary. She enjoyed her breakfast, consisting
of smoothie and bagel, in the living room in front of the TV watching the early morning news. Afterwards she jumped into the shower, briefly thinking
of her parents which caused her to cut the shower short. When entering the cluttered bedroom, filled with several unpacked cardboard boxes, Alissa
made her way over to the double sized wardrobe. Pushing the sliding door aside, a smile spread across her face at the sight of all the color
cordinated outfits lined up. Like she'd planned the night before, Alissa chose the grey suit that she knew complimented her body in just the right
way. Underneath the suit jacket she put on a white crisp shirt, topping it all of with her mother's gold earrings and necklace. While in the midst of
trying to pick out a pair of pumps, Alissa got distracted by the faint sound of her cell phone ringing. She rushed out of the bedroom and into the
living room, spotting the vibrating Razr on the coffee table.
"Barstow. Jacq, hi! Oh, I'm fine! Just getting ready for work. I'm guessing you're already on location?"

Gavin
The fight between Jaysen and Gavin had went on literally all night. And it was now morning. Gavin had flown up to the rooftop of Headquarters and
was near passing out due to a loss of blood when he came crashing down onto the roof with a loud thud. Attempting to stand, but still not able, he
started dragging himself across the roof towards the rooftop entrance. He was in excruciating pain and hardly even able to think. Finally arriving
at the door, he reached up, falling short of reaching the handle. Cursing silently, trying to levitate by tapping into the most
minimal amount of his abilities of flight. Barely reaching high enough to turn the handle, he cursed once more as it was locked.
Gritting his teeth as he focused, pooling his energies from last night, concentrating on the powers that Jaysen demonstrated calling on his
power imitation. Holding out his hand in a fist, he quickly imagined all of his might, and even more, flowing through the door. The
moment he opened his hand the heavy metal door began bending in the middle, angling out. The lock popping free and the door swinging open. Gavin's
eyesight fading in and out as he started to hover down the steps. Finally, he gave into the unconsciousness and fell the few feet between him and the
stairs. It wouldn't be a quiet landing, and neither would the descent down the stairwell, but maybe it would at least draw the right attention to
him...medical attention.

Jacq
Smiling at Alissa's comment, Jacq nearly flew out of her chair as something came tumbling down on the roof above her head. Hesitating ever so
slightly, she remember that she was alone at the office - which wasn't so strange considering the still early hour.
"Uh, Alissa, there's someone here, please hurry over!" Jacq hung up without waiting for an answer and got out of her seat. It wasn't an
impossibility that they had already been found by other demons, non-friendly ones, but attack now didn't make sense since it hadn't even opened yet.
Leaving her office she made her way towards the sound - now of the door being force open. Carefully walking up the stairs she nearly lashed out with
her hand to attack when she saw the young man as he crashed into stairs.
"Damn," she cursed under her breath and hurried up the stairs. Having already memorized files over all the agents assigned to the Miami office she
knew who this boy ans so she rushed to his side. "Mr Bristow... Gavin, come one," looking over his wounds it was obviously no time to loose and so
she picked him up from the floor and with a grunt turned around and carried him into one of the living rooms, carefully placing him on the sofa. Her
hands gently touched all of his more serious wounds and fully healed them. It took it sweet time and it drained her. When there were only minor
bruises left, she went to fetch some water and placed it on the table next to Gavin.
"Hey, Gavin, wake up," She gently shook him a little. The man would still be in pain, but no longer in a serious condition.

Alissa
Without even slowing down to figure out the strange phone call she had just had with Jacq, Alissa grabbed her bag and was out the door in mere
seconds. Instead of waiting for the elevator, she started dashing down the stairs quicker than she thought possible. Luckily she had chosen a
neighborhood close to DH headquarters which meant that in worse case scenario, her apartment was within running distance. This morning was however not
one of those scenarios - she had finally gotten her car fixed the day before.
On the drive over to headquarters, Alissa tried calling Jacq's cell but kept getting voice mail and so she stepped on the gas, bluntly ignoring
running one or two red lights. Couple of minutes later, thanks to a lucky short cut, Alissa parked the car outside on the otherwise empty parking lot
and ran over to the entrance surprisingly fast in her new pumps.
"At times like these superspeed sure would've been nice...!"
The elevator ride up was almost unbearable for her and as soon as the doors opened, Alissa rushed out and down the corridor towards Jacq's office.
She however stopped dead in her tracks when she found the room empty.
What the...?
The distant sound of voices got her attention and Alissa ran up the flight of stairs, catching a glimpse of a familiar figure at the far end of the
corridor in one of the living rooms.
"Jacq! Jacq, are you okay?" she called out, her feet already carrying her down the corridor towards her friend.

Gavin
Completely unaware of what was going on. At first he didn't respond, but the next second he awoke screaming and clutching at his wrist. Just
because he could be healed didn't mean that the bones snapping back into place wouldn't be painful. Tears shot to his eyes, but didn't quite roll
down his cheeks. It actually hurt worse getting your wrist healed than to get it broken. Granted he was conscious when it was broken, this time he
was knocked out so he couldn't really control his threshold of pain. Looking around in complete shock, nearly forgetting that he had barely made it
back to headquarters, he breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at Jacqueline and nearly whispering, "Thank You."
Looking around, not yet being in the new office, he realized that it was quite big. Then glancing down the hall to see Alissa running towards them,
Gavin blushed in embarrassment. He was presenting completely in a weakened state at the moment, and he had been taught better than to show pain so
easily. Trying to scoot up on the couch, his body still racked with pain, he looked at the both fo them unsure of what to say.
"I know I'll be in a load, but I was at some club last night, when a brute of a fellow came up and was all on a tantrum about this or that. Then he
was all like, demon hunter this and that, to which I never replied, just played a stupid uni lad y'follow?"
Gavin looked at them with wild chocolate colored eyes. He wasn't quite sure they were following yet.
"Round about ways the monster grabbed my arm, and yanked me about like a toy telling me he wasn't putting up with it. Told him I wasn't his type
and kneed him in the groin. Regardless, he ended up following me to a construction site. Lured the dumb beast there, and luckily, I was bright
enough to scope out the playing field and got the first hit in...a good one at that I'll have y'know!"
Gavin had to protect his manhood, and while he was telling the truth he wouldn't give too much on what got him in the state he was in.
"See, I reckon I fly fast, so I had the advantage in the sky, but that bugger had this nifty power, my abilities tell me it was psychokinesis, but
didn bother me none. It wasn't till he sent the entire site crashin up after me before he got me good. Granted, I mimicked his powers, fancy as
they are and gave him a bit o' a thrashin' enough to the point until...well I knew I had to leave."
Gavin was quite the talker, and a smooth one at that. His thick Irish accent always eased the transition, but it also lost the words in translation
sometimes too. Seeing as the original organization was based in Europe, surely they understood everything. Looking up at the both of them and
smiling, still completely riddled with pain, he placed his hand on his chest, about the spot that was giving him difficulty breathing and looked to
Jacqueline.
"How does that nifty power work?"
He might as well give it a try considering he was still in pain, even though he was extremely weak from the power usage previously. Biting on his
bottom lip, he tried picturing the pain alleviating, but nothing.
"Maybe I'm a bit weak still...the door upstairs...I apologize, but it's no use anymore...used the cretin's power to bust it open."
Did he ever shut up? Probably not when around the ladies, but the guy was in pain and had to cope somehow. Looking at Jacq and seeing that she was
obviously weakened, he quickly apologized, looking down at his body, which was previously bruised, bloodied, and broken.

Jacq
Turning towards Alissa who was calling her name, she could feel the young man waking up next to her.
"Yes, Alissa, I'm fine... I just got worried, that's all."
Then she fell silent and listened to everything that Gavin had to tell her. It wasn't that surprising that demons got into fights - they did it all
the time, over everything and nothing. Of course she got angry that had faced a so much stronger demon all by himself. Even though only two years held
them apart, Jacq had been a demon hunter since birth, an agent at the age of 13 and now their leader - it was in her right to be angry, and Gavin felt
you to her though she'd never think of him lower because of that which wasn't in her nature. However, she felt old next to him. Slowly nodding her
head, she didn't give any lectures though he wouldn't be going out on the field by himself for a while.
"Psychokinesis?" That struck a chord. It could only mean one thing... "Kid, do you realize that you just fought Jaysen Blackthorn? They guy we've
been set up here to capture?" Now she felt like slapping him around, but refrained from doing so.
"Don't worry about the door..." Reaching for the telephone next to her on the table where she had placed herself in front of Gavin she dialed the
number to the reception desk at the first floor. "Hello, could you please send up someone from security to fix our roof door? ... Thank you."
Turning towards him again, she hesitated ever so slightly to touch him - if there was something she didn't want to pass on it was her power of
Clairvoyance. Inhaling deeply she knew that her father had told her that it was hard for any demon with the power to mimic power to do so with a power
that wasn't directly used on them, especially something complex like clairvoyance or empathy.
"I do my regeneration by creating new molecules and forcing them back together, to create blood or tissue or even bone and so on..." Biting her lip
she knew it could be hard to explain exactly how to do it, but soon she remembered a trick her father had thought her. "A way to do it for someone
who's not used to it is to imagine... how a broken bone melds back together, or how blood particles splits, duplicates and grow stronger. When it's
you're own body you don't need to touch the area, but in the beginning it's easier to do so. It's always harder on your soul to heal someone else
rather then yourself..."

Gavin shrugged his shoulder slightly as she was going on about this Jaysen Blackthorn.
"No need for such a big jig, I got him good enough. If only I was a skilled mimic we wouldn't be having any issues. If I had received assignment
when I got here I would have served him better."
Gavin was humble to a point, but he did put up a decent fight, even though he's certain if he had not left he would have died. Listening to
everything she said, he closed his eyes, momentarily focusing on that part of his chest. Picture the pain alleviating, the structures reforming, he
finally started to feel a bit of relief. Opening his eyes and breathing a bit easier now, he looked to her with a sly smile.
"Well, now if he would have been as cooperative he woulda been smashed."
Gavin most certainly was not skilled when it came to his power imitation, but flight, he could leave just about anyone behind. It was not his fault
that he wasn't around other demons as a child, that he was raised to be human. If he knew his mother was here there would be a stern lecture for
her, but he certainly never would if she had her way. Then again, he wouldn't even know her. If she had been around he would be skilled with the
powers of telekinesis and telepathy, but she never visited when he was a child, and therefore, he was a nascent with this ability, an ability that one
day could grow to be extremely powerful.

Sam
Sam Peyton stepped out of the cab he’d hailed earlier and looked up at the impressive building that was supposedly housing his new office. He mumbled
the address quietly to himself, and having already paid the driver, he made his way into the building. He hadn’t received much information on this new
department, except that it would be under his and one more persons responsibility, he’d even got only a half-hearted address. The building had been
mentioned but not what floor or anything. So he did the only sensible thing and asked at the reception. There were two receptionists, one cute and
young blond and an older stern looking woman. He walked up to the blond, though for more reasons than just her looks as he easily spotted that they
were the same 'kind'. Casually he leaned against the counter and gave her one of his most charming smiles.
“Hi,” he hope the girl wouldn’t answer to strictly – after all it was a building owned by the government.
“Good day, sir, how may I help you?” she sounded polite, but Sam picked up the hint of nervousness in her smile and the slight blush that was
spreading over her cheeks – without having to use his powers.
” Well, I was wondering… The DH-department, do you know where can I find that?” he winked humorously, obviously flirting with her.
“Oh... Well, sir, you have to take the elevator all the way to the top floor.” The woman smiled a bit embarrassed as she continued. “You can only go
up if you are authorized, sir.”
“That sounds good” he gave her another smile and flashed her his badge. “Sam Peyton,” he held out his hand making the woman blush again as she took
it. “This is my first day here but I hope we will be seeing a lot of each other from today onwards…”
“Yes... Welcome sir!”
“Thank you,” he read her name tag in a slightly over obvious way making the woman blush even more fiercely, “Susan.”
He said goodbye and walked over to the elevator, as he entered it he noticed what he assumed was what the receptionist had meant by “only authorized
can go up”. Too be able to go to the top floor you where required to place your hand on what looked like an ordinary “palm reader”. But Sam knew
better. The DH used them all over, they did scan the hand but they also ‘scanned’ a demons power. Each power was just as personal as a fingerprint, he
only hoped they’d loaded his information into the system seeing as how quickly everything seemed to have been pulled together here in Miami. Placing
his hand on the cool surface he soon got the answer to his question. A green light went on and the elevator began to move.
A slightly nervous feeling swept over him but he shook it off easily, having learned how to completely control his on – and others – emotions a long
time ago. Instead he let the curiosity he'd had since birth take over. He knew Jacq was in the building. He'd known that as soon as the the car had
driven onto the street leading up to the building, and now he couldn't help but to wonder what she looked like. He'd heard the news of her father
and could only imagine how hard it must have been on her. He shook his head slightly, but this was no time to dwell on the past. They had work to
do.
A few minutes later the elevator stopped and the doors slid open. Stepping in to his new workplace he took in the rooms in which he was probably going
to have to spend a lot of time. He hadn't expected much, seeing as most DH, and government offices usually were quite dull. However the office space
was nicely decorated, in warm colors and with several plants and paintings.
Okay so they don’t have much imagination… But at least it looks like they hired a decorator this time around… He’d seen more than his share
of horrid offices during his time with the DH.
He stopped in his steps as he felt something thug at his powers. Usually he kept his empathy as much "turned off" as possible, since it could be a
very bothersome thing to feel the emotions of everyone in the vicinity but something he'd learned to pick up on was making itself known so he opened
up to it almost instinctively.
Pain. Physical pain from several places, and a slight shame that followed it. He knew it wasn't Jacq - he could pick out her emotions anywhere.
Besides this was a clearly male pain. Instead he felt a slight fatigue from her, and knew she'd healed someone. As he moved toward the room where the
feelings came from he could feel a third presence as well. Someone who had felt alarm but started to calm down... Even before he stepped into the room
he had quite a clear idea of what had happened there, which still made him have no second thoughts about shooting of a charming smile to the
occupants.
"Well, it looks like I've missed some of the action already..." he grinned at the boy on the couch. He did feel slightly annoyed at the kid for
having tiered Jacq before they'd even gotten started properly but it was not the least bit visible in his smiling face and relaxed pose. Looking over
at Jacq and meeting her blue eyes for the first time in years he found that he still had to suppress a rush of emotions - which he did very easily and
widened his smile instead of showing them.
"Long time no see," he smiled before seemingly realising that he had another pretty woman standing almost next to him, he immediately extended his
hand, and full attention, to her.
"Sam Payton, pleased to meet you."

Alissa
Alissa let out a sigh of relief when she saw that Jacq was alright. However, she couldn't quite say the same for the young DH agent resting on the
couch. When she heard the name Jaysen Blackthorne she immediatley turned to stare at the younger guy, believing for a moment that she must've been
mistaken. But as she listened to what he said to Jacq, Alissa got goose bumps. And before she could stop herself...
"Parden me for asking, but what on earth possessed you to go up against Blackthorne?"
The moment she'd said it, she realized she hadn't even introduced herself or stated her presence to the younger agent. Not that all situations
called for polite introductions before getting down to business. Before the agent had a chance to respond, Alissa suddenly noticed a handsome man
entering the room. She followed his movements and when she saw how he looked at Jacq, there was no doubt in her mind who he was.
So this is the legendary...
Alissa snapped out of her daze when realizing that he was in fact extending a hand and introducing himself, all with impeccable charm. Just like
expected from someone like Sam Payton.
"Hi, Sam," Alissa smiled sweetley. "Alissa Barstow. It's a pleasure."

Finally getting into a sitting position on the couch, just about the time that another agent had walked into the room. Here came the big talk that he
really was hoping to avoid. At least he was hoping. Then again this man came strolling in charming the ladies, so maybe he'd get away with it.
"If I had known who he was I probably wouldn't have messed with the nim, but I must stress in my case that I'm a new recruit and new to the
country, and the arse singled me out of the crowd. Just wanted to see what the night life was like..."
Cut off by the fellow introducing himself and flirting, he made a point to stand up, most of the pain had alleviated at this point. Gavin, obviously
lacking some hands to be shaking everyone's, he just decided they belonged in his back pockets, so he stood there in a coy manner, but was anything
but shy. It was obvious that Gavin was in the presence of some high ranking demon hunters, and ones that had experience, with all of their powers.
"Gavin Bristow, nice to meet the lot."
He was Irish, he couldn't get in trouble too much for trying to catch a drink. Plus he was trying to derail the whole lecture issue. He certainly
had one coming, and he agreed he probably deserved it, but he's endured too many lectures. At least he was at work early. That could be the way to
look at it.

Jacq
Listening to what Gavin had to say, the woman stood up and refrained from saying anything more, though she shoot Alissa a humorous smile at her
question about what Gavin had been thinking. When it came to be statement of being cooperative, Jacq simply shrugged. It was her duty as head of the
office to do what she could for her agents.
"You haven't received an assignment as the office starts up today. If you were sent early the problem isn't this office, but the head office in
London."
Then she felt him coming close, and as he stepped through the open door, Jacq turned slightly to meet his gaze. No emotions showed or were felt,
having been around Sam for most her childhood and teenage years had taught her not to be obvious, but to hide what she could to have some privacy.
"Hello, Sam," She added to his comment of long time no see and then turned away from him with a professional coldness.
"Gavin, I'm not saying you should run away from a fight - but you need to pick them more wisely. Next time you won't be able to heal in time and
it's bye bye to earth life and back to hell where we all belong. Of course Jaysen singled you out, to him Demon Hunters is what's wrong with the
world and somehow, and I don't know how, but he knows who is a hunter and who is not. Not just like how we can sense another demon in a
crowd of humans, but he can really pick out the hunters..." Jacq fell silent, knowing she had gotten her point across.
Standing up, she left the room with the others behind and headed towards her office, there she met a couple of security guards carrying a door to
have the old one replaced and they greeted. As she was about to step through her office door, she heard someone calling out to her.
"Ms Halewood?"
"Yes," turning towards the voice she noticed two other security guards pushing cabinets filled with files towards her and she remembered that she
had filed a request with the DH office in London to ship both all of her files and also her fathers. Showing them into the office, she pointed out the
wall behind her desk and they lined the cabinets up against the wall and then went to fetch another four cabinets. On her desk Jacq found a carbon box
and when she opened it she found the personnel files of all agents who would be in contact and under Miami jurisdiction as well as their background
stories.

Sam
Outwards Sam didn't seem to react to Jacq's business like manner as he charmingly answered Alissa.
"The pleasure is all mine." Shaking the young Hunters hand Sam winked humorously before turning too listen to what the boy said. He had heard
Alissa's question as he entered and frowned slightly. Going up against Blackthorne alone was a dangerous feat. But at least they now knew he was
indeed in the city.
Gavin huh, trying to avoid a lecture from the looks of it... Sam's smile widened. He liked the boys attitude though he obviously still had
a long way to go before he was a full fledged hunter. He didn't say anything about it though but listened calmly to Jacq's short outlay. She really
had grown in the few years since they last had met. Before she would easily have given the young man a proper telling off... Which, if Sam had gotten
him right, wouldn't do much else than annoy the boy. Silently he watched as Jacq left the room and sighted inside, not showing anything but the usual
smile on his face. They were going to have a talk before they got to work properly it seemed.
"Well then Gavin. I trust you will be more careful in the future," he smiled almost jokingly at the young man before continuing more seriously. "We
need every man and woman we got in this fight." It was more of a statement than any kind of lecture.
"I have some things that need sorting out so no offence, kid but I'm gonna ask Alissa here to keep an eye on you until your wounds have healed
properly and then maybe show you the office?" The last of the sentence was a question directed to Alissa accompanied with a slightly excusing grin as
he was already on his way out the door and didn't wait for an answer.
Finding his way toward the, only separate, office room that he was going to be sharing with Jacquline he found a couple of security guards carrying
some heavy looking file cabinets in through the doorway. Squeezing by with a few apologies instead of waiting for them to get in first he shoot of a
wide smile to the woman he was going to be working closely with the next couple of months. Just like old times.
"Well..." he found himself thinking "Maybe not just like old times..."
"It seems like we'll be working together again, Jacq." he smiled friendly at her where she was standing by her desk. They'd been very close
once... But that was all in the past. However Sam didn't want them to be awkward with each other now. Not when there was so much at stake, and
they'd always made a good team in the past...

Jacq
"Yes, shocking, isn't it?" The irony was hardly noticeable, even for an empath such as Sam. But it was there, considering she had told him as
much... so many, many years ago. Sitting down behind her computer, she turned it on while opening an empty compartment within the desk and started
assembling the files in right order. It didn't take long and once she was done the computer was all booted up and she entered her information and
when it logged in she received three e-mails. One was from Alicia Deveraux, confirming the fact that Gavin had indeed met Jaysen. The other was from
Eamon, telling her he was on his way and would come in later the same day, also inquiring her of where she was staying. Closing it she opened the
third, which was from Zeke telling her the same thing - that he and Nero would be arriving the same day.
"Alicia confirms that Gavin has been fighting Jaysen so we should probably find out where, could you talk to the government as usual? Eamon and Zeke
is on their way and I was thinking about sending out Alissa and Gavin to retrieve a well known snitch, to catch us up on the underworld, do you have
any objection?" Looking up from her papers, she met his gaze with the same casual, sort of cold, business posture as before.

Sam
Tilting his head slightly to the side as the irony in her voice was not missed by him, Sam slowly walked up to her desk as she began tapping on her
computer. She might know a thing or two about suppressing and hiding her emotions but she had nothing to set against an empath as experienced as he
was. But Sam didn't use his powers. He didn't like using it on people he had to work with. He had learned a long time ago that it was just the same
as asking for trouble. On the other hand he didn't really need his powers to understand that she was uncomfortable and trying to shut him out.
Something that annoyed him slightly as he really couldn't see what reason she had from trying to distance herself from him. It was he who should be
the one mad at the woman - for a change - and not the other way around.
Smiling his usual smile he walked around the desk and sat down on the side, not far from where Jacq was sitting, and listened to what she had to
say.
"No, not about any of those things," he smiled charmingly - as if nothing in the world could be wrong. "But I think we need to talk first." He was
still smiling but his in his green eyes was a serious look.
"We used to be able to work really good together for a reason you know... We trusted each other. And we were honest." with that he left the ball in
her corner. Hoping she wouldn't just kick it back... or worse - puncture it.

Jacq
Nodding slowly at his words, no sudden rush of emotions came over her, no will to push him off the table or make his head explode. Everything went
pretty much the path she had expected and in such she leaned back in her seat and kept their gazes locked together.
"I still trust you and I plan to be perfectly honest with you, so I don't see a problem. In fact there shouldn't be one, unless you have something
you feel you need to take up with me?"
Though no words had been exchanged, Jacq was well aware of the fact of who was to blame, and who would have the right to hate who and so on and so
forth but honestly it didn't bother her if he wanted to hate her, it would be a pity but well within his right.
"I'm here to do my job. My father passed away and I'm carrying on in his name, I'm a Halewood." It was said with something obvious there, but
what it was no one would be able to tell - not even Sam.
Being Richard Halewood's daughter had never been an easy task, at least not when it came to the outside world. Jacq had had a wonderful relationship
with her father, even though he had worked a lot. They had only each other most of the time. Yes, the outside world had been the problem. In the
beginning all had expected Richard to have a boy, but he didn't - he had a daughter and no more children. Richard had never pushed his daughter in
the direction of DH, it was a step she had chosen for herself. Now, her job was all she had left in the world...
As long as everything is exactly the way I want it, I'm totally flexible.

Sam
Listening quietly Sam's smile never faltered. She said one thing yet... It was unusually cold for being her. At least the Jacq he had know. But maybe
that was the problem. He just didn't know her any more. As she mentioned her father Sam's smile vanished and he nodded seriously.
"I heard about your father. I'm sorry." and he truly was, the sincerity obvious in his voice. He had never cared much for the man... for several
reasons that he was sure Jacq understood perfectly. Yet he had never wished the man dead... or well maybe once or twice but never seriously! Besides
he knew how much her fathers death must have hurt Jacq and that was something he really never had wished for.
"I am really looking forward to working with you again Jacq," he calmly met her blue eyes, silently noticing how dead they were compared to the last
time he'd seen her... Something that just made him itch to... "I suppose," he continued as seriously as before, but with just the slightest hint of
playfulness in his green eyes. " the only thing I feel I need to take up now that we're going to be working closely together again is... that
horrendously grey suit you're wearing... With a body like yours it really is a shame." Shaking his head with a theatrical seriousness he gave her a
playful wink before quickly moving out of arms length - more out of reflex than because he thought she would try to take a swing at him.

Alissa
Watching Sam and Jacq exit the living room, Alissa failed at holding back an amused smile. Sam Payton was every bit as handsome as Jacq had let
slipped, there was no denying that, but he wasn't really Alissa's type so there weren't going to be any problem working with him. As long as he
behaved.
Snapping out of her daze, Alissa abruptly turned around facing Gavin. She smiled politely at her new co-worker and took a seat across from the couch,
gesturing for him to sit back down.
"So, Gavin, tell me a little about yourself. I always make it a point to get to know the people I'm working with. And I really wouldn't want you to
be moving about until your wounds have healed some more."

Smiling and nodding as Jacq went to take care of some business, he quickly exhaled in relief. He wasn't much to sit through a lecture. He blamed it
on what he called his "selective attention disorder," but he was pretty sure everyone was guilty of having that disorder they would just never admit
it. Smiling to Sam as he mentioned the topic in a much lighter tone than expected he shook his head with a smile in agreeance.
"Indeed sir, will try."
He left it a bit open because quite frankly he wasn't making any promises. If the gorilla came a pickin on him again he would have no choice but to
defend himself. Nodding at Sam once more to bid him farewell he smiled again.
"None taken, except for the kid part."
Looking at Alissa, he couldn't help but look mischevious...it was his nature. He was very light-hearted and new. Plus, if he already got everyone
up in arms, he had to be doing something right. Taking a seat as Alissa gestured to it, he smiled once again, never having an issue with talking, and
most certainly never an issue talking with such a beautiful lady.
"Well, I'm from a small coastal town in Northern Ireland...pop is still there. He has a dojo, which is where I learned to fight, just physical.
Came into my flight abilities early on in life, but dad is human, so he could only teach me so much. I'm just now learning how to use my other
because I've never been around demons, and you can't learn what you can't see or feel...at least in my case. After graduating college I was told
to go to the European headquarters, and quite frankly...just learnin' about all of this stuff now."
Sometimes he felt a little in the dark. It seemed that most of the demons in the agency were born and raised to be just that. Gavin was only
half-demon, and had never even had exposure to other demons...it was actually embarrassing. It seemed everyone was so powerful, and while he had the
potential to be powerful, he had never been given the proper chance. Looking down at the floor he looked back up and spoke with a sincere tone.
"I do apologize, if I had known who he was, I mean...I'm not that ignorant. It was m own responsibility to check things out."
To lighten things up he quickly threw in, "Oh, and I'm an Aquarius."
Gavin didn't have a mother, at least not one he had ever met. He wasn't well coursed with his powers and he didn't know anyone in the
organization. His Irish was thick, and sometimes he fumbled around his words, and it was actually the first time he had ever been uncomfortable in
his entire life.
"And you Mrs...Barstow? What's your story?"
He had thrown int he Mrs. just to see what she would say. Never hurt anyone, and was a simple enough mistake. He also had to wonder what her powers
were. Now that he was actually realizing that he did have an "active" power, it was all quite interesting. He could tell that she had powerful
abilities, but unless he touched her or she used a power, its identity would remain rather well hidden. His ability was amazing in the sense that he
could almost sense the powers, and if close enough contact could tell you exactly what power and how advanced you were, at least if he knew how to
decipher the wealth of information that rushed through his head, but since he had minimal exposure, he couldn't do much.

Alissa
Listening to the cliff-note version of Gavin's life story, Alissa casually leaned back in the armchair, nodding every now and then as to ensure him
that she was paying attention. The part about him being Irish came as no surprise, seeing as how his accent gave him away the moment he started
talking. The thick Irish accent did remind Alissa of someone she'd known a long time ago but that was all ancient history by now.
Hearing Gavin tell her about his powers was yet another interesting part of his story. Having an active such as flight must certainly be pretty damn
exiciting, or at least that's what Alissa couldn't help to wonder. Her powers were too bad either but something such as flying up in the air, high
above everything and everyone else, was of course one of those things she'd dreamed about as a child. Before she learned the meaning of her abilities
and her destiny. Before reality caught up with her.
A humoured smile appeared on her face when Gavin threw in his little 'Aquarius' joke, which she could tell was his attempt of lighten things up. And
it sort of did the trick. The 'Mrs. Barstow' comment threw her off for a second but the puzzled expression was quickly replaced by amused
laughter.
"It's Ms. Barstow. I haven't really found a Mr. Barstow just yet. And compared to yours, my story seems awfully dull. I was born
and raised in the amazing city of New York by my two parents. Went to NYU where I studied dance for four years until finally realizing I wanted to
follow in my dad's footsteps and join DH. He was the one who taught me how to fight and how to master my telekinesis, as well the time control."
Smiling sweetly at the fellow DH agent, she added; "Oh, and I'm a Gemini."

Watching as she listened, she seemed to be a very content person, but looks always didn't mean everything. Listening to her laugh, and then her
reply, he quietly raised an eyebrow as she said Ms. He found her story to be interesting, the exact opposite of his, aside from them both being
educated. She had been raised by both of her parents, actually taught her powers, and she just seemed full of life.
"Hardly dull Ms. Barstow...I mean...New York City, dance, and your parents raised you as teaching your abilities. You're lucky is what you
are."
Looking at her with eyes wide open in entertainment and interest. The fact that she had such active powers, was cool to say the least. She was
probably extremely powerful, and he was nearly a nascent--at least with his power imitation, and this whole...undercover thing. He never was one to
fib about much, so it was something entirely new for him when he was asked too much about himself by complete strangers, he strangely felt at ease
with Alissa though.
"Telekinesis and Time Control...I mean how amazing. I mean most people think flight is pretty awesome, but moving things with your minds, freezing
and speeding things up, I could have got out of a lot of trouble as a child with those two powers."
Lightly laughing as she countered his astrology talk he smiled as he looked up trying to catch her eyes.
"You know, Aquarians and Geminis work well together. Plus, I'm wagerin' that your Barstow is Irish, but it's just a wager mindin' your very
charming, and I hear that the Irish are quite the charmers."
Did he really just say that. He did, and it was extremely tacky. He would shoot himself in the foot, but he didn have a thing to shoot it with.
Really tacky and a bit egotistical sounding, not that he was--much.

Jacq
A suppressed side of Jacq wanted to stand up and scream in pain as Sam talked about her father. A feeling that barely reached the surface of her
conscience, instead she nodded to his words.
"Thank you but don't worry, it was very peaceful and of old age."
It really was something she was grateful too, even though it had felt too soon. They had been alone for his last weeks in his life and they had been
happy. No talk about work or the outside world. Just talk about her mother, whom he had missed every day of his life and the memories the two of them
shared. Jacq had felt lucky to get so much quality time with Richard, where others lost parents to accidents or murder or sickness...
When Sam carried on about them working together she nodded her head but soon froze in motion as he pointed out his feelings regarding her suit. With a
sigh she removed her jacket, revealing a quite stunning black blouse that matched the gray skirt perfectly and accentuated her figure.
"In case of rain I brought a jacket, not that I care about what you think..." In her head it was true, so sensing otherwise would be impossible. It
was the only way to fool a lie detector test - when you believe what you say is true, it's not a lie and you don't know any other way. Silently she
ignored the fact that he had moved away from as if she would have hit him - as if she couldn't when he wasn't close by.
"Should we set up the 'Easter Hunt' for the Snitch?" If there was something she wanted to do - it was to get down to business.

Alissa
Not quite sure what to make of Gavin's seemingly nervous ramblings, Alissa decided not to overthink the possible meaning. She however hoped that he
was right when he'd said that Aquarians and Geminis worked well together. Right now, that was one of Alissa's major concerns. To establish solid
working relationships with all of her new co-workers, aside from Jacq whom Alissa already had a solid enough friendship with.
"Well, sounds like you were quite the little troublemaker. Can't really say the same for me. Having powers such as telekinesis and time control
didn't exactly help matters when trying to live a normal life, especially during college. But these days, time control certainly comes in handy in
chaotic situations."
Alissa smiled at Gavin, her mind briefly drifting back in time. The distant memory of her father's reaction when she'd announced her becoming a
Demon Hunter marked the first time in her life when she'd actually disobeyed him. Getting into trouble as a kid just wasn't in her nature; she'd
believed her parents knew what was best for her. Until she decided to quit pursue dancing and join DH, which was something she still hadn't
regretted.
"They say that women ends up marrying a man much like her own father. If and when I get married, charm isn't the only thing I want
the future husband to have in common with Dad."
Realizing she was probably overdoing the personal chatter, Alissa suddenly stood up.
"Would you excuse me for a moment? I'm in desperate need of some coffee and from the looks of it, so are you. I'll be right back."
Alissa exited the living room rather hastily, searching the corridor for the nearest coffee room although she was really in the mood for something way
stronger than caffeine.

"Guilty" Gavin said in response, knowing that he was indeed quite the troublemaker as a child. He never was necessarily bad, but he was just
literally everywhere, and his father could hardly keep up. Wondering why she would ever want to live a normal life, he was raised human, and to find
out later that he had powers was difficult enough, he went to question it, but she began mentioning the marriage issue.
"That's a fair enough assessment considering you owe it to yourself to do it right the first time."
Just from the affection in her voice when she spoke of her father, it was obvious that he was an amazing man and anyone would have a challenge living
up to his image. It was obvious that she wasn't much a person to divulge her feelings, it was getting a little too personal, so naturally she found
a quick out, even if it were just for a moment.
"Sure, thanks"
Smiling at the thought, he didn't even really favor coffee, but it was the gesture that mattered. Standing up and stretching briefly, he went over
to one of the windows to survey the sun beaming over the horizon in Miami. He had never quite seen anything like it, and if you told him a year ago
that he would be in the United States working, he would have laughed it off, but here he was.

Alissa
It took a few minutes but she finally managed to locate the nearest coffee room. Being the only one there gave Alissa a moment to herself, sorting out
her thoughts while getting two cups of coffee ready. The old coffee trick hadn't been used in years but Alissa found it useful from time to time
depending on the situation, even though she doubted people actually fell for it. She had always been a terrible liar and an even worse poker player.
Focus on the job, Ali. Focus on the job...
She took a sip of the coffee, not exactly loving the result but decided that it was definitely drinkable. Picking up the two plastic coffee cups,
Alissa slowly made her way out of the coffee room and back down the corridor, wondering how the rest of the day would turn out. Hopefully she'd turn
back into her regular working self again instead of giving the impression she was a complete rookie.
